Doris and Nnamdi's Wedding

On the 2nd of January 2013, in Nibo Village, Anambra State; Doris and Nnamdi said their vows to each other. It started with the church ceremony which took place at the St Theresa Catholic Church in Nibo by 10am. The couple arrived on time and the mass started by 10:30am. During the sermon, the priest admonished them to be caring and sensitive to each others needs. He said that from today they are one and thus should be able to discuss anything among them. Also he advised them to avoid hiding anything from each other as one day it will be revealed and the consequences will be more disastrous. He then proceeded to ask the man if he was aware that after today his wife will change as her true colors will be revealed and vice versa. The groom replied yes and he told the groom that if he was sure that he was willing to live with these changes he should walk to his wife and bring her to the altar. They then said their vows and exchanged their rings.

After the church ceremony, the order of photographs was conducted within the church premises.

Then the couple and the guests proceeded to Royal Garden Hotel for the reception. At the reception, the MC was introducing the parents of the couple and they danced in with their friends and well wishers. After this the sponsor and Chairman of the wedding were also introduced. The couple was ushered into the venue by the bridal train and ladies wearing different aso-ebi attires. They danced out by 3:00pm into the reception to Flavour’s new single titled “Ada Ada”. The groom displayed some dance steps to the delight of the guests and the amusement of his wife. The dance steps motivated the groom’s brother to start spraying the couple before they got to their seat.
When the couple had sat down, the MC called on a guest to say the opening prayer. After this, the kolanut was broken and shared among guests with garden egg and ‘ose oji’ known as peanut butter paste. This led to a short opening speech by the Chairman.
After this, the couple was asked to perform their first official rite together by cutting the wedding cake. Three witnesses were called to observe the act of the cutting of the cake. They all agreed that since the bride allowed herself to be led by her husband during  the cake cutting, that it shows her submissive nature and willingness to obey her husband at all times during the marriage. They also agreed that the husband guided her calmly during the cake cutting which shows that he will always support and be there for her at all times during the marriage.
After the cake cutting, they were led to their sit. Then they were asked to feed each other. The bride took a piece of the cake, knelt down, put it in her mouth then feed her husband. She then proceeded to take the glass of wine and give him. The husband on the other hand, cut a small piece of cake and feed the wife and gave her a drink of wine.

The Chief Brides maid was then called upon to give the toast. She proceeded to talk about her best friend the bride and how they both met. She then said a small prayer for them and urged everyone to stand up for the toast to good health, long life and a good marriage to the couple.
They then proceeded to the dance floor, where they danced for a few minutes. After the dancing, guests who brought gifts for the couple gave it to them and received souvenirs from the couple. After this, the groom gave a closing remark and the MC called another guest to say the closing prayer.
